Description: The French colonial policy in Algeria was characterized by its various religious, judicial, and educational systems, aimed at obliterating the identity of the Algerian Muslim community within the framework of the French of Algeria, society and institutions, and removing all its money related to the Arab Muslim identity. Religious sanctities include mosques, corners and endowments in all regions. France realized from the first moment that controlling such sanctities means controlling the people. In this context, the colonial policy relied on employing calamities and jurisprudential fatwas to confront everything that would hinder its colonial expansion project. And the rumor of these fatwas among Algerian Muslims to acquiesce and be satisfied with the de facto policy, and that colonialism is a decree of fate, and that fighting it is considered to be its destruction that religion forbids. In the face of this arrogant French policy, religious institutions in the corners and mosques had a major role in confronting it, as they were not only places of worship, but were Islamic centers for education and standing against the colonial policy aimed at evangelizing Algerian society and obliterating the features of identity. The topic deals with an aspect of the French colonial policy in the religious field in Algeria, represented in the employment of jurisprudential calamities in service of the colonial project from 1830 to 1900, as this period is considered one of the most difficult periods in the history of colonial Algeria, as it witnessed unfair practices and policies aimed all at blurring the features of identity Algeria and the elimination of the Islamic religion, and the French of Algeria at all levels, as it was also characterized by popular resistance rejecting the colonial project.
