dc.description.abstractWithin the framework of geotechnical studies, the purpose of which is to evaluate the determination of the bearing capacity of the soil. The bearing capacity of the foundation soil plays a major role in the choice of the type of foundation, for which the determination of the bearing capacity is one of the most important problems of soil mechanics. Knowledge of the failure mechanisms is a very decisive preliminary step in the study of such problems. The use of the automatic calculation tool in civil engineering becomes an efficient means for the analysis of a problem at boundary conditions; nevertheless, the reliability of this analysis depends largely on the parameters and input data that are experimentally obtained from geotechnical tests. The objective of this work is the analysis of the bearing capacity of a soil (Clay and sand), under axial loading, by numerical simulation using the PLAXIS calculation code in order to determine their failure mechanism.en_US
