This research paper, entitled " The Youth and the handicrafts, a case study
Adrar ", is an attempt to know the youth attitudes towards practicing handicrafts
in Adrar and the factors influencing these attitudes. The study provides a
diagnosis with the reality of handicrafts among young people in this region and
the extent to which they are influenced by their personal characteristics. It also
attempts to find out the factors lying behind their engagement and abstention,
as well as the role of professional guidance in identifying the youth's attitudes
towards working in the field of handicrafts and how they respond to the national
policies that were advocated to engage them.
The study was conducted on sample of 200 young people in Adrar. It has
applied the descriptive approach. A survey was carried out for data collection,
in addition to the use of triple Likert scale. Data have been processed using
the Statistical Package for Social Sciences program in SPSS. A number of
conclusions has been drawn, including:
1. The practice of craft activities in Adrar has received increasing demand
by young people of different age groups and educational levels.
2. Youth heading toward choosing craft works of art and traditional
craftsmanship for services.
3. There is a relationship between young people enrolment in artisanal
work and parents' engagement in that field.
4. The personal motivation is the most important factor influencing the
selection of the young man of his craft, skilled work, so, the craft job gives a
psychological satisfaction for a young man more than economic one.
5. The reluctance of young people to work in handicrafts is due to the
absence of professional guidance, especially school.
6. The majority of youth exercise their crafts as a hobby or a temporary or
additional work, which poses questions about the possibility of creating
entrepreneurial activities in the craft field. |
