dc.description.abstract Exploitation of Available Water Resources to Achieve Arab food Security By Attia El-Gayar Soil-water management Professor Head of Soil Physical and Chemical Research Department Soil, Water & Environment Research Institute, Agriculture Research Centre, MINAGRI, Giza , Egypt. The issue of Arab food security of important issues and contemporary affecting the population and the political and economic conditions and preoccupied thinking many economists and politicians Arabs, and affected the lives of a population of 300 million people, according to statistics in 2005 and live on a land base of approximately 14 million square kilometers. We find that arable land has been exploited only 79.5 million hectares, making rate of no more than 5% of the land area The rest are for deserts and other areas. The natural and human resources available for agricultural production is playing a major role in providing food, which is considered one of the important issues and contemporary makes further effort by the owners of the political decisions and arriving at the stage of self-sufficiency in light (not independence for the people eating from overseas) to realize the hopes and aspirations of peoples the roots of the history of the Arab nation for a better tomorrow is characterized by freedom and prosperity. The current conditions experienced by the world economy in general and Arabs in particular requiring an Arab agricultural policies uniformly to achieve Arab food security in light of the natural and human resources available for agricultural production in the Arab world, and there is no doubt that the political and economic independence a close relationship to food security. In other words, the strategic food in the Arab world starts to take control of the exploitation of resources and optimum exploitation so that it can meet its food needs in the long perspective, but it will face either famine or dependency third option but not both. Since water is a component of the first life on the surface of the globe and no life without all its forms and manifestations, as well as a shortage continued to impede the development projects and the migration of individuals and groups from the areas of water shortage to areas where. It can be said that Arab water security will be in the next stage one of the main causes of tension and instability in the region, especially in light of the relative scarcity of available water resources and the overall decline in rainfall and the depletion of underground water reserves, as well as the background positions of a number of neighboring countries, controlling the resources of the most important Arab river, specifically "Israel" In this context embodied profile catastrophic life-threatening economic and social stability in the Arab nation.
