Abstract:

The problem of food production in the Arab world especially important for their close association with the life of this nation and its security and stability. Until early this century, the Arab countries, unlike most commodities and agricultural products, then started to gradually lower the amount of exports compared with a rise in the quantity of imports until taking the increase in the deficit and thus widened the gap between supply and demand.
Because of the low production Arab foodstuffs to a number of reasons including lack of cultivated area for the number and growth of population and rising standard of living, as well as the low technical level of production and not used in modern production methods that would increase production and intensified, even if they are used within too narrow.
In order to meet this grave challenge posed by the crisis of food production and the Arab nation should develop a strategy encompassing the economic, investment and social dimensions, including cultural, political. There is no doubt that the situation requires coordination among different sectors for food production until the integration and linkage among themselves, without the alternative will be the specter of famine or in the best of circumstances fall under the control of exporting foodstuff. |
