Abstract: This thesis seeks to trace the postmodern features and the truth in Julian Barnes Flaubert's Parrot (1984). It also seeks to provide a brief historical background of postmodernism as a movement and its development into a theory. Besides, it tries to present the influence of the theory on different fields. I am emphasizing in this influence on the field of literature- mainly novels and history -mainly biographies. To examine the quest for the truth in the novel, a brief definition to term ‗truth‘ generally is provided with an emphasis on postmodern truth. I choose the novel because it is a postmodernist literary work which is very interesting. Thus, it is very rich with most of the postmodernist elements and it revolves around the central notion of truth which is postmodernism‘s main concern. The thesis also aims to show how postmodern elements have an essential influence on the interpretation of the meaning of the novel.
