Abstract: | Language is a means of communication. Not only this, but we can also consider it as an identity. Language can show who someone is and where he comes from; because language differs from one place to another even if two communities speak the same language, their accents or dialects are different. This case in linguistics is called geo-linguistics. Geo-linguisticsis about studying languages geographically, because a lot of linguistic studies ensure that geography has a huge impact on language. Hence, it can be considered as an important reason for language diversity around the world. This research is an attempt to investigate the influence of geography on two dialects of two different Adrarian regions: Lamtarfa and Salito know to what extent the two dialects are different, similar, and mutually intelligible. The study is based on a questionnaire to both residents of Lamtarfa and Sali. Data analysis reveals that geography has an impact on the dialect of the two regions. In addition, there are some similarities between Lamtarfa's dialect and Sali's dialect with mutual intelligibility. |
