Abstract: Through what we have studied , we tried theoretically and procedurally to give a concept of the professional identity . As a central concept has a prominent presence in various recent studies , especially in sociology and in front of the multiplicity and diversity of this proposal . we tried the cognitive aspect of the definition of its monitoring , and within the field of sociology of the professional identity of the teaching profession at the university .which formed the basis of the socio-cultural determinants of university professor therefore we are facing a double launch dealing with the issue of socio-cultural determinants that affects their professional identity and sociology of the profession to form the university teaching profession. For reference can be considered to this cognitive has got interest by the researchers while acknowledging that the topic of gravity is just as important to have an independent academic research .which knows the great debate to the cultural background and mentality of Algerian society and propositions concerning the standing of professions maybe that will be our contribution to future research in this content we just tried to answer the following question ." What is the role of socio-cultural determinants in shaping the professional identity of the university professor ?" The studies aimed to find out about the wider reality of professional identity of the profession of university professor at the university of Adrar and to what extents the professor takes his role in the professional which has a great role to appear his professional identity . In this study, we have used descriptive and analytical approach seeking to do comprehensive survey of all study the vocabulary but the difficulties which the researcher has faced to restore all the forms . At least , we could restore 276 forms only which will be our sample research . The results of the study reveales the objective facts and the reality of socio-cultural determinats and their role in shaping the professional identity of the university professor at the university of Adrar
