dc.description.abstract | Colonial methods varied and expanded, which led to competition between European countries for the possession of new areas in the world. Despite the arrival of Portugal to the African continent since the 15th century, the discovery of internal Africa and its colonization was delayed until the 19th century. Geographical associations emerged in it representing its role in discovering the internal coasts of the African continent, especially its west, and removing the mystery over its entire lands after it was unknown to the Europeans. France and Britain sought to acquire it after paving the way for geographical discoveries and prompting them to colonize it and control its vast lands in order to obtain the raw materials needed for industry and open new markets | en_US |
