SOCIOLINGUISTIC STUDY OF DIALECT CONTACT AND ACCOMMODATION IN ADRAR CITY CENTRE

Abstract

Within the framework of linguistic communication, this study is an attempt to investigate the linguistic consequences of communication and the adaptation of dialects as basic mechanisms of linguistic diversity mainly in the city center of Adrar, with great attention paid to linguistic convergence and divergence. How and why does this diversity converge with the adoption and adoption of certain characteristics of immigrant dialects. Interestingly, Adrar's geographic location is widely taken into account as it forms social contact with neighboring regions and other parts of the country. The people of Adrar mainly witness the linguistic variations of the inner city dwellers due to population movement and communication. Knowing this, a quantitative and descriptive analysis was carried out while people are currently suffering from a serious epidemic situation. The announcement of the "Coronavirus" seriously hinders the demographic movement. Thereby, the main focus of the study is on very limited samples selected at random. Then, the results show that accommodation occurs in adult speakers of different origins and adopts the characteristics of the interlocutor but that non-residence occurs in older men for many reasons such as age and prestige. Through the sociolinguistic and analytical interpretation of these results, we understand the reasons for this behavior and infer the most likely factors affecting local discourse such as immigration, commerce, urbanization, ethnicity, and mixed marriage. .

Dans le cadre de la communication linguistique, cette étude est une tentative d'investigation des conséquences linguistiques de la communication et de l'adaptation des dialectes en tant que mécanismes de base de la diversité linguistique principalement dans le centre-ville d'Adrar, avec une grande attention portée à la convergence et à la divergence linguistiques. Ensuite, les résultats montrent que l'accommodation se produit chez des locuteurs adultes d'origines différentes et adopte les caractéristiques de l'interlocuteur mais que la non-résidence se produit chez les hommes plus âgés pour de nombreuses raisons telles que l'âge et le prestige. Grâce à l'interprétation sociolinguistique et analytique de ces résultats, nous comprenons les raisons de ce comportement et déduisons les facteurs les plus probables affectant le discours local tels que l'immigration, le commerce, l'urbanisation, l'ethnicité et le mariage mixte.
