dc.description.abstractNowadays, English is considered as the international language of communication, education, technology and other domains. Linguistically speaking , and because of the daily interaction of people, an entire change is occurred in words and sentence’s morphology which is known as variant in which any particular, slight difference in the form and structure of words is detected . One of these varieties is conceded as slang, a highly informal substance restricted to a specific group of people based on context, age, and social status. Entitled “The use of Slang among students in the department of English”, the present paper is going to discuss the situation of slang between BA students of English. In addition, we intend to investigate student’s motives and knowledge about slang. We embraced a questionnaire for extracting results, which is a highly effective tool for constructing a descriptive analysis. This research develops the analysis of the usage of slang; the findings are: - students aim to fulfill a certain purpose or attitude by using slang - Social media is the perfect platform of producing slang - Students are aware that slang is the casual version of standard language To sum up, the results are expected in terms of conceiving slang as the informal form of language. Finally, slang is worth of further studies that would enhance the position of such a provoking variety as slangen_US
